About Robert Carter, MD
Robert F. Carter, M.D. received his BA degree from Columbia University and his MD Degree from Cornell University. He did his surgical internship at St. Lukes/Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan and completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency and Chief Residency re-certification at Montefiore Hospital-Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Carter is Board certified and recently re-certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. He is an active fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been the co-director of Orthopedics at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bethpage, NY since 2006. Dr. Carter was also a team physician for the long Island Surf Pro Basketball tea, and Hamlet Cup Tennis ATP. Dr. Carter has been practicing Orthopedic Surgery of Long Island for 30 years. He specializes in minimally invasive/arthroscopic shoulder, knee surgery such as arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, instability surgery of shoulder as well as ligament reconstructions and meniscal surgeries of the knee. He performs total knee replacements as well as comprehensive General Orthopedic, operative and non-operative care.
